Want to revisit your favorite Nintendo games on your Windows 10 PC? Emulators allow you to play old games like the NES, SNES, Game Boy Advance, and even the GameCube and Wii with better graphics, controller compatibility, and save states. Popular selections like as RetroArch, Dolphin, and Cemu have received millions of downloads worldwide, with Dolphin alone topping 10 million users thanks to its flawless performance and 4K support for GameCube and Wii games.

Emulators such as SNES9x and VisualBoyAdvance are lightweight and user-friendly, making them appropriate for older hardware. Citra (for 3DS) and Yuzu (for Switch) demand more powerful hardware, but they provide gorgeous visuals and faster frame rates. If you’re experiencing input latency, stuttering, or crashes, try updating your GPU drivers, enabling the Vulkan or OpenGL backends, and allocating extra RAM through settings. Also, utilize ROMs from reputable sources to avoid compatibility problems.

Have you ever tried running your favorite Nintendo game on Windows 10? Which emulator provided the best experience, and which settings worked best for resolving performance issues? Let’s discuss some tips to make everyone’s gaming experience smoother!

Try updating your RetroArch to the latest nightly build. They added DualSense patches recently. Also make sure “hid” drivers are installed correctly in Windows Device Manager.

Weird issue: RetroArch crashes on startup when I plug in my DualSense controller. Works fine with my Xbox controller though. Any ideas?

Anyone else using emulation for mods? I’ve added custom textures and music to Brawl using Dolphin and it feels like a whole new game.

Yes! Dolphin has Netplay built-in. Works great for games like Mario Kart: Double Dash. Just make sure all players have the exact same ISO and config settings.

Love this thread! Anyone know if Dolphin supports Netplay for online multiplayer?

Yup, I had the same VSync issue in SNES9x. Turning it off also fixed input lag with my USB controller.

I switched to Ryujinx after constant crashes in Yuzu. Ryujinx has a smoother UI and better logging. Plus, it seems to handle shader caching better, so less stutter overall.

Tried using Yuzu for Tears of the Kingdom, but even on high-end specs it crashes randomly. Heard Ryujinx is more stable for some games. Anyone tried it?

Yeah, No$GBA saved my life during college when I had an ancient laptop. Also has good cheat code support if you’re into that.

Why is no one talking about No$GBA? It’s a bit outdated but still runs DS games well on really low-end systems. Just be prepared for some compatibility quirks.

For anyone with an Intel iGPU, I recommend using OpenGL over Vulkan in Citra. It’s just more stable in my experience, even if it’s a little slower.

try running it in admin mode or move it out of the Program Files folder. Sometimes Windows blocks write permissions there.

I’ve had trouble saving states in VisualBoyAdvance on Windows 10. Anyone else run into that?

Totally agree! RetroArch is underrated. Once you set up your playlists and thumbnails, it feels like a full console OS. Great for nostalgia!

RetroArch’s shader library is 🔥. Makes old pixel games look crisp on a 1440p monitor. Try the CRT Royale shader if you’re into that retro aesthetic.
