Day of the Tentacle: Remastered is a brilliantly funny point-and-click adventure game by LucasArts, originally released in 1993 and remastered by Double Fine Productions in 2016. With its wacky time-travel narrative and hand-drawn cartoon style, players control three friends—Bernard, Laverne, and Hoagie—as they try to stop a mutated purple tentacle from taking over the world. This cult classic is celebrated for its clever puzzles, voice acting, and nonlinear storytelling. The remastered version brought in enhanced visuals, developer commentary, and seamless switching between classic and updated modes.
Despite its age, the remaster runs surprisingly well on modern PCs. However, some players report issues like resolution bugs, audio desyncs, or the game failing to launch on certain Windows 10/11 setups. These can often be resolved by running the game in compatibility mode or disabling fullscreen optimizations in the .exe file properties.

With overwhelmingly positive reviews on Steam and tens of thousands of downloads across platforms, Day of the Tentacle remains a must-play for fans of smart humor and classic gaming design.

What was the most memorable puzzle or joke that stuck with you from this timeless adventure, and how long did it take you to solve it?

Still can’t believe this game was originally made in 1993. It feels funnier and smarter than most modern games. The remastered art is beautiful, but I love that you can flip to the original pixel style anytime. Also, Bernard’s deadpan delivery is iconic.

This game is comedy gold. The time-travel puzzles are still so clever—especially sending items through time via the Chron-o-John. I had some lag when switching to classic mode but toggling VSync in settings helped. Honestly, this should be in every adventure gamer’s library.

The microwave and hamster puzzle broke my brain as a kid 😄 I’m glad the remaster didn’t change those wild solutions. Love how it keeps the spirit of the original alive. I had a crash at launch on Windows 11 but fixed it by turning off fullscreen optimization. Classic point-and-clicks like this just don’t get made anymore.
