Dead Rising Remaster, a fan-favorite in the zombie survival genre, lets players take control of Frank West as he navigates a mall teeming with undead. The remaster version, released in 2016, brought the classic to PC with improved visuals and a smoother gameplay experience. The game’s core mechanics—such as weapon crafting, strategic combat, and exploration—remain engaging, but some players have reported issues with lagging and poor performance on the PC version.

Dead Rising Remaster has enjoyed a healthy player base, with over 2 million downloads on Steam and a positive rating of 85%. However, a number of players have encountered frame drops, stuttering, and performance dips, especially when large groups of zombies are on screen or when certain in-game events occur.

If you’re struggling with lag, there are a few fixes worth trying:

  1. Update your drivers – Ensure your GPU drivers are up-to-date.
  2. Adjust graphics settings – Lower settings, such as shadows, textures, and anti-aliasing, can ease the load on your system.
  3. Disable background programs – Close any unnecessary applications consuming CPU and RAM resources.
  4. Check game files – Verifying the integrity of game files via Steam can fix corrupted files.

Has anyone else experienced these lag issues, and if so, what solutions worked for you? Let’s share tips to get Dead Rising Remaster running smoothly again!

I’ve had the same problem with lag, especially when I’m surrounded by zombies. I followed the advice of updating my graphics drivers, and that helped a bit. I also reduced some of the settings, like lowering shadows and resolution, and it did improve the performance. If you have a decent PC, it’s worth tweaking these settings.

Same here! I was getting constant frame drops, and after reducing the texture quality and turning off motion blur, I saw a noticeable improvement. I also made sure my Windows is up to date and did a disk cleanup. Have you guys tried turning off V-Sync? That seemed to help as well.

Anyone here using a controller? I was getting lag with my keyboard but tried a controller and it seemed to resolve the issue! Strange but true!

I don’t think it’s just the game. My whole system was slow, and after upgrading my RAM, everything, including Dead Rising, runs smoother.

I did a system restore to an earlier point when the game was running fine. That worked for me. Maybe something from a recent Windows update messed things up?

For me, the game was lagging a lot when I had other games running in the background. Once I shut everything down, I got much better performance.

My laptop wasn’t handling it well at first, but I started limiting the CPU usage through Task Manager. It really helped with the overall performance.

Have you checked your internet connection? Sometimes, lag can be caused by slow or unstable connections, especially with online features.

I tried running Dead Rising Remaster on a different PC and had no issues, so maybe the game is optimized for certain configurations.

Does anyone think upgrading to a better GPU would be the most effective solution here? I’m thinking about getting a new graphics card.

I’ve been experiencing issues with lag in the mall areas. Could be that the game engine struggles with large environments like that, I think?

Does anyone else have stuttering only during certain in-game events, like when the game spawns a large wave of zombies? I wonder if that’s related to the engine.

For those having trouble, don’t forget to check for overheating issues. Overheating can cause your PC to throttle performance, and that could explain the lag!

A couple of people recommended using an SSD for Dead Rising Remaster. If you’re on a hard drive, switching to an SSD might speed up load times and reduce stuttering.

My fix was simple: I turned down the field of view (FOV) setting. It’s a subtle change, but it helped a lot with my framerate.
