Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2) is a critically praised action-adventure game created by Rockstar Games that immerses players in the lives of outlaw Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang in 1899 America. Since its debut, RDR2 has sold over 17 million copies and received various awards, including “Best Narrative” and “Critics’ Choice”.

For Windows 11 users, optimizing RDR2 can improve playability.

  • Enable game mode: Activating Windows 11’s Game Mode allows you to more efficiently allocate system resources for gaming.
  • Adjust Graphics Settings: Lowering Shadow Quality and removing V-Sync can boost performance.
  • Update Drivers: Keeping graphics drivers up to date will help prevent accidents and improve stability.
  • Use Vulkan API: Enabling Vulkan in the game’s options may improve performance.

Which optimization techniques have you found to be the most effective for RDR2 on Windows 11? Please share your experiences and tips in the comments section below!

No one’s talking about Windows 11’s new Memory Integrity feature—it tanks performance. Disable it in Core Isolation settings and thank me later.

Game looks incredible on Ultra, but I had to compromise. I use a mix of High and Medium settings at 1080p, and I still hit 60fps consistently. Ryzen 5 5600 + 6700 XT.

Game Mode helped, but don’t forget background services. Disable SysMain and other memory-hogging services in Task Manager. You’d be surprised how much smoother it gets.

Has anyone tried running RDR2 from an external SSD? I moved mine to a Samsung T7 and load times dropped by almost half. Massive improvement!

My favorite tweak: I overclocked my GPU just slightly (+100 MHz core, +200 memory) and kept temps under 75°C with MSI Afterburner. Gained about 10–15 more FPS in open world scenes.

For anyone on a mid-tier system, set Texture Quality to Medium, but keep TAA enabled—it helps keep things sharp without hogging performance. Also, clean up your shader cache every few weeks.

Yeah, that mission bugged out for me too. I solved it by verifying game files on Rockstar Launcher and temporarily switching to DirectX 12 for that segment. Worked like a charm.

Anyone else having issues with crashes during the “Blessed Are the Meek?” mission? I’m on a fresh Windows 11 install, RTX 3060, latest drivers. Vulkan runs smoother, but still crashes. Any workarounds?
